If to be consistent... One cannot politically blame the Republicans to use the full extent of the law to legally determine the 2020 presidential election (i.e. questionable votes, recounts, etc), no more one cannot politically blame the Democrats for using the full extent of the law to legally determine the 1972 presidential election (i.e. Watergate, as one example).
With that said, if consistency was ethically paramount among politicians, then most laws, regulations, taxes, fees/fines, seizures, prohibitions, sanctions, bans, programs, subsidies, grants, wars, monetization even agencies and departments would be reduced if not rescinded. In this way upon far less power and money in political play, far less among society's perverted and corrupted would bother pursuing or lobbying government offices.
