It is critical to not confuse then equate the newness of words, terms and phrases with definitions, ideologies and practices as though newly developed as well. For often longstanding the same definitions, ideologies and practices however remarketed cleverly and purposed manipulatively else trended popularly, altered naively, distorted ignorantly.
To exemplify, both Communism’s forceful bottom-up confiscatory and Fascism’s forceful top-down regulatory methodologies have been well utilized since societies and governments first established whether obvious or not per various fittings and numerous trappings. For what is Monarchism’s forceful bottom-up hereditary methodology, Feudalism too as an extension thereof, but Communism’s forceful bottom-up confiscatory methodology towards total control of the economy.
With that said, modern monarchies allowed private property and production thus included the top-down regulatory methodology to maintain control of the economy, as much as modern democracies included a measure of the bottom-up confiscatory methodology.
As another example Centralism, and Federalism as a form of it, is the same sort of long practiced schemes or subjugations, that is to say, the shrewd or savage gathering hence concentrating of power unto itself from others by further manipulation or coercion upon kingdoms, governments, states, provinces, societies as well individuals. Centralism is of course the natural digression per connate aggression once implemented the methodologies either bottom-up confiscatory/hereditary or top-down regulatory.
Accordingly, the common references like Statism, Police-Statism, Militarism, Interventionism, Paternalism, Protectionism, Monetarism and others similarly are often misunderstood as though something other, when either particular activities (subsets) within or redundant to the aforesaid isms and definitions. For regardless the motives, intentions, agendas and objectives of any such ism, implementations therefore methodologies remain to be two; bottom-up confiscatory (or hereditary) versus top-down regulatory.
