PROPOSITION, PROBLEM & POEM No. 263

~ Definitions of Isms ~

Often in the actual definitions as well ambiguity creeps in unawares, and for this reason the definitions also should be examined... If we are able to see in one glance what is the same in each individual case of it, we shall be at no lost into what genus we ought to put the object before us when we define it.

Aristotle (384-322 BC), Organon / Topica, Book I

Primary intent is to debate not the definitions, rather establish then commit to observable, logical, consistent definitions for the duration of this work, as well anytime this poet engages in conversation. Secondary objective criticizes then condemns thereby rejects the persistent even insistent assumption, presumption, arbitrariness, convenience, expedience hence mass inconsistency among an array of definitions and usages in covetous pursuit of temporal advantages socially, academically, scientifically, politically hence dismissively, slanderously, ruinously more.

Hence as defined, there is one and only one ism ethical per the one and only one right, thereby all other isms shall be judged and condemned.

Individualism; the constant respect hence consistent regard for each and every person's Peculiar Human Ability to Reason as manifested per the Singular Human Right to Consent or Dissent on all matters.

 The aforesaid ism is the logical, ethical standard by which to judge any-ism and/or any-ocracy as constant versus inconstant, consistent versus inconsistent ergo the latter arbitrary and if pursued quite presumptuous, arrogant then violent through forceful imposition, intervention, intrusion, invasion, etc. upon the dissenter. Clearly, the use of force governmental or criminal, force legal or illegal, force organizational or informal, force thoughtful or casual indicates the obvious dissent of those imposed, intervened, intruded, invaded, etc. Consequently, the following defined accordingly.

Communism; the forceful bottom-up confiscatory methodology towards total control of the economy, thereby property and production owned collectively, publicly, centrally thus governmentally.

Fascism; the forceful top-down regulatory methodology towards total control of the economy, thereby property and production owned individually, privately yet regulated centrally thus governmentally nevertheless.

Cronyism or Corporatism; similarly Fascism in part although eventually whole, progressing incrementally, digressing inevitably towards the same total control of the economy (i.e. United States, most other western democracies).

Socialism; the necessary power-exchange or political barter for Fascism, Communism, Cronyism or Corporatism, achieving governmental authority and jurisdiction by seducing the masses to forgo Individualism or Individual sovereignty in part or whole while appeased, subsidized, purchased with services, goods, monies underwritten by aforesaid Fascistic regulatory or Communistic confiscatory appropriations of each and every person’s purse, possession, property and production and the subjugation of the same person’s propensity, prerogative, preference and purpose.

Summarily perhaps poetically too, Socialism’s innate mediocrity hence connatural inefficiency is the stale bread tossed to the Roman mob thereupon remaining insatiably covetous for all sorts of arrogated middling. My apologies.

Perhaps important to note and define Capitalism as the subset of human actions then economic activities within Individualism (i.e. to note, not United States, not other western democracies), thereby equally in motion and practice the same constant respect hence same consistent regard for each and every person's Peculiar Human Ability to Reason as manifested per the Singular Human Right to Consent or Dissent on all matters.

PROPOSITION, PROBLEM & POEM No. 270

~ Amiss the Peculiar Human Ability to Reason / 2nd Reprise ~

Do you think people today have good sense and judgment about practical matters? So inquired an informal survey to elicit public discussion, and as part of that discussion this poet retorted.

Every individual have the unique or peculiar human ability to reason, well utilized each passing moment. That is to say, reasoning utilized appropriately as so long the individual bears fully his/her own responsibility and risk. That is to say differently, there is never a passing moment when an individual is not reasoning, therefore reasoning constantly.

Therefore, grossly oxymoronic to suggest a person, as member of the specie human, is unreasonable. For to reason is human (see Proems & Poems Nos. 22-24, 33, 34), else to be human is to reason. Inconsequential thus quite different the matter whether the person's action or behavior are constructive versus destructive.

If the individual is not fully bearing his/her own responsibility and risk per assistance or intervention by others (parents, charities, etc) or by government (welfare, subsidies, grants, loans, prohibitions, regulations, monetary expansion, etc), hence responsibility and risk mitigated else negated, then the individual ability to reason becomes misdirected, distorted, corrupted even perverted, in parallel to inciting covetousness towards presumption and arrogance for more of the same.

To logically, consistently define, to reason is the ability to economize, prioritize thus determine per propensity, prerogative, preference, necessity, pursuit, objective upon knowledge or information gathered by experience directly (life lived) or experience indirectly (reading, studying, etc).

~ Amiss the Peculiar Human Ability to Reason / 1st Reprise ~

To expand further, well intertwined are the peculiar human ability to reason and self-interest, so much so, quite easily and universally observed, logically determined then properly argued as synonymous else inseparable. To quote from her 1957 novel Atlas Shrugged, Ayn Rand (1905-1982) wrote per the inherent passion thereof.

I swear by my life and my love of it that I will never live for the sake of another man, nor ask another man to live for mine.

As starkly cold some may interpret this quote, equally thus unavoidably practiced by each and every individual since the specie human first reasoned, the one point in history and forward shared by both the Evolutionist and Creationist (see Proem & Poem No. 199 and Proposition, Problem & Poem No. 267). From here, it follows.

Firstly, best exemplified the beauty of self-interest respected thus regarded per modest governance, when individuals separately calculate, speculate, labor and produce, then in the marketplace of mutual consent, not taxed, regulated, subsidized, prohibited, sanctioned, confiscated nor seized, negotiate and exchange their goods and services, all proportionately satisfied even benefited.

No one actor empowered politically, governmentally enough to interfere, intrude, impose per inherently unavoidable biases and prejudices covetously driven, yet properly moderated each individual by fully bearing his/her responsibility and risk, therefore appropriately guided every person by wholly exercising his/her peculiar human ability to reason for resultantly not awry, askew nor amiss.

Conversely, best exemplified the ugliness of self-interest disrespected thus disregarded per arrogant governance, when individuals separately calculate, speculate, labor and produce, then in the marketplace of covetous presumption, well taxed, regulated, subsidized, prohibited, sanctioned, confiscated or seized, adjust and transact their goods and services, all disproportionately unsatisfied even harmed.

One or more actors empowered politically, governmentally enough to interfere, intrude, impose per inherently unavoidable biases and prejudices covetously driven, yet improperly moderated each individual by not fully bearing his/her responsibility and risk, therefore inappropriately guided every person by not wholly exercising his/her peculiar human ability to reason for resultantly quite awry, askew nor amiss.

PROPOSITION, PROBLEM & POEM No. 268

~ Amiss the Peculiar Human Ability to Reason ~

If not hindered nor impaired then awry, askew, amiss the peculiar human ability to reason upon the mitigation or negation of the individual’s burden of responsibility and risk. There are of course the observable, logical therefore sustainable as well ethical considerations (see Proem & Poem Nos. 117-120, 123), as so previously introduced.

Each and every action carries with it the inherent thus unavoidable burden of responsibility and risk, defining since antiquity the natural state of human activity. First, the actor bears the responsibility thus cost of the action by exerting labor and/or expending resource. Second, the actor bears the risk thus outcome of the action by enjoying the increment and/or enduring the detriment.

However on the actor’s behalf, another person may bear responsibility and/or risk, voluntarily if have consented thus acceptant, or coercively if have dissented thus resistant, albeit never negating nor mitigating rather merely transferring the burden. With that said and to state the obvious, it is intellectual whimsy, fantasy even psychosis to contemplate society or human activity without individual burden of responsibility and risk…

It is not difficult to imagine by resorting to force the newly induced overhead thus expenditure of labor and resource, in addition to the moral dilemma per the disregard for the Singular Human Right to Consent or Not Consent on all matters, inseparably the disrespect for the Peculiar Human Ability to Reason.

The implication should be made plain. While the forceful transferring of one’s responsibility and risk to another may present obvious dilemmas making difficult if not impossible to maintain postures logical, sustainable, ethical however less noticed the less obvious dilemmas per the peculiar human ability or capacity to reason ill effected. It is also obvious hence quite true the path of least resistance equation as the propensity of reasoning, properly conducted when fully bearing one’s responsibility and risk, however gravely conducted when not fully bearing one’s responsibility and risk.

~ Two Propositions on Humanity and Polity / 3rd Reprise ~

Ergo the human lot as the one specie remarkably, powerfully reasonable, peculiarly so among all other species non-reasonable (see Proem & Poem Nos. 22-24, 33, 34), however as such well constrained, limited even flawed per the ineluctable existence non-omnipresent, non-omniscient therefore non-omnipotent, consequently the innate propensity for error and excess, the intrinsic tendency for covetousness and corruption thereby personally empowered, narrowly exasperated then locally calamitous.

If to observably, logically, consistently accept humanity thus described and defined, then would not the same characteristics and dynamics unavoidably pervade and permeate each and every human effort, human endeavor, human enterprise and human establishment?

Ergo the government frame as proposed, deliberated, designed, constituted, ratified, initiated, sustained, maintained, expanded as well executed by the one specie remarkably, powerfully reasonable, peculiarly so among all other species non-reasonable, however as such well constrained, limited even flawed per the ineluctable existence non-omnipresent, non-omniscient therefore non-omnipotent, consequently the innate propensity for error and excess, the intrinsic tendency for covetousness and corruption  thereby legally empowered, broadly exasperated then nationally calamitous.

If to observably, logically, consistently accept government thus described and defined, then would not the same characteristics and dynamics unavoidably pervade and permeate each and every governmental effort, governmental endeavor, governmental enterprise and governmental establishment?

~ Two Propositions on Humanity and Polity / 2nd Reprise ~

If there is any presumption it is the other way against holders of power, increasing as the power increases. Historic responsibility has to make up for the want of legal responsibility. Power tends to corrupt and absolute power corrupts absolutely. Great men are almost always bad men, even when they exercise influence and not authority: still more when you superadd the tendency or the certainty of corruption by authority. There is no worse heresy than that the office sanctifies the holder of it.

Lord Acton (1834-1902)

Absolute power (see Proem & Poem No. 174) corrupts absolutely! Indeed, history proved innumerably, horrifically the axiom, as occurring today therefore lessons astonishingly remain yet learned. To elaborate further hence another unavoidable, observable truism squarely founded upon the equally unavoidable, observable fact; marginal power corrupts marginally, for corruption is unavoidably in direct proportion. Power of any measure inevitably germinates the dormant and corruptible seed Covetousness ever-present, if watered by unprincipled consideration then developing into Presumption iridescent, if sunned by unscrupulous anticipation then maturing into Arrogance effervescent, of course onto Violation subsequent as purposed thus Violence consequent as proposed. To remedy, simply reduce or remove the power by rescission.

Consequently to propose and define logically, ethically hence consistently; Violence is one’s action directed towards and against another’s dissent explicit or dissent implicit per consent unexpressed. It matters not the former person’s intent, objective, benefit nor office if politically empowered else station or status, neither the latter person’s error in judgment or resulting detriment in so dissenting; Violation thus Violence nonetheless!

PROPOSITION, PROBLEM & POEM No. 219

~ Two Propositions on Humanity and Polity / 1st Reprise ~

However obvious, it should be duly noted. Gravely lacking omnipresence, omniscience hence omnipotence, humanity operates in time, along inescapable timelines, therefore limited in movement, knowledge hence ability/power, consequently the constant propensity for error and excess. Concisely, if not infinite, then quite finite are all individuals, including all self-acclaimed elites of various sorts. Yet to complicate further, all are simultaneously burdened and blessed with human instinct, human emotion as well the Peculiar Human Ability to Reason, inseparably the Singular Human Right to Consent or Not Consent (see Proem & Poem No. 50).

If to combine the constant Human Propensity for Error and Excess with ever-present Human Tendency for Covetousness, there arises the inescapable conflict. Therefore the question (see Proem & Poem Nos. 147-155); what is Covetousness if not one desiring something other than what he/she would be, do and/or have per his/her own ability and resource, subsequently digressing into presumptuous persistence then arrogant insistence to force upon others, violating their preferences hence properties, possessions even persons so to effectuate of course what one covets to be, do and/or have.

What is covetousness if not one desiring an existence, condition, status, position then property, possession, preference even (a) person beyond his/her own time, space, reason, knowledge, skill, labor, resource as well physicality, psychology, propensity, personality to imagine it, understand it, innovate it, produce it, barter for it, exchange for it, negotiate it, obtain it, maintain it, defend it thus again the presumptuous persistence then arrogant insistence to force upon others, violating their preferences hence properties, possessions even persons so to effectuate of course what one covets to be, do and/or have.

And what of covetousness if not the Biblical 10th Commandment broken before breaking all other commandments, the theological sin committed before committing all other sins. Comparatively and universally, what of covetousness if not the logically initial disposition entertained before entertaining further hence presuming, arrogating then violating others’ dissent on any and all matters.

Such blind faith else resigned ignorance, yet each twilight one wraith
Scathing the minds, raping the intellects withal nakedness swathed

PROPOSITION, PROBLEM & POEM No. 218

~ Two Propositions on Humanity and Polity ~

The following are two propositions with justifications then brief conclusion on Humanity or Human Nature, and Polity or Government Power.

First proposition; it is not that any one person may be corrupt, nor one person more corrupt than another, rather each and every person therefore Human Nature is corrupt. Always!

First justification; whether contending observably, consistently, theologically "all have sinned" (Ro 3:23) or observably, consistently, logically "all propend towards error and excess", either posture compounds then complicates, exasperates then expands per humanity as non-divinity therefore non-omnipresent or limited existence, non-omniscient or limited knowledge, non-omnipotent or limited capability. Within this context humanity unavoidably covets, envies, presumes, angers, imposes and violates, restrained solely by bearing ethically one's own responsibility and risk else bore by another voluntarily thus unwisely or forcefully thus immorally. The only alternative argument is humanity possessing none of the aforementioned inherencies hence perfection or nearly so; a consideration obviously fantastical while ignorant narcissistically else arrogant covetously.

Second proposition; it is not that government power may be corruptive, nor one form of government more corruptive than another, rather government power of all forms are corruptive. Always!

Second justification; power, whether governmental or other forms, enable then encourage even excite the mitigation of responsibility and risk, unleashing humanity's innate covetousness, presumptuousness, excessiveness, erroneousness and varieties thereof. Rare and few the persons able to resist the temptation, that is to say, no person can resist. So much so, well concocted the political sciences, isms, ideologies, nothing more than clever twists and turns of words and phrases by academia and intelligentsia seductively funded, whorishly subsidized by those who covetously seek governmental power, that is, the power over others' person, propensity, prerogative, preference, purpose as well profession, purse, possession and property (see Proem & Poem No. 176).

Conclusion; if corrupt each and every person, and if corruptive government power of all forms, then upon endowing person(s) corrupt with governmental power(s) corruptive, corruption will exasperate then compound, expand then complicate and do so accumulatively perhaps exponentially.

O for liberty’s sake, yet political waves break, and candidates on take
Hence navigating, rather strategically imitating, some morally narrow strait
Well plaited per covetousness, presumption, arrogance and perversions
So go the quick-tossing the aspersions, to trick-glossing the conversations

        To my daughters, sons-in-law and grandchildren, who I love more than they know. It is my hope they someday will read this book when aged enough by human experiences hence mildly or gravely despondent over the human yet quite inhumane experiments, that is, the political and social monstrosities called Government.

To articulate yet another perhaps final time the Law of Anterior Covetousness; if an action disregarding dissent (not consensual), then anterior the covetousness as the initial speculation, presumption, later arrogance the consequential disposition, disrespect next disregard the eventual manifestation.

            Consequently, again consider the following pseudo code (see Proposition, Problem & Poem Nos. 225-230), particularly the addendum inserted…

            To be clear reiteratively, the point of such exercises is to demonstrate the syllogism as logical hence consistent, the logical argument as the critical prerequisite towards proposing then proving further the ethical argument. To reverse engineer, if to propose any consideration as ethical as should any consideration factual and truthful, then paramount during the observation then determination must be consistency as the primary characteristic, dynamic and/or element, else inconsistency then certainly something other than factual, truthful as well ethical.

PROPOSITION, PROBLEM & POEM No. 233


To say (see Proem & Poem No. 147) a person or group of persons have biases is as ridiculously unnecessary as to say having propensities, preferences, limits, scarcities, flaws, errors, inabilities, deficiencies, gluttonies, excesses and so on, for to be human is to have all of these things, that is, the numerous persisting thorn(s) in the flesh (2 Co 12:7). Thus mere congruity imposes the speculation then inclusion; to be human is to covet as well.

These human tendencies prevail mostly unnoticed as part of the larger whole, the philosophically universal propensities for error and excess, else the theologically inherent state of total depravity consequent of the Adamic sin. Amid the context of either proposition, the tendencies, propensities or depravities (if you will) are commonly complicated then compounded hence exceptionally exasperated by covetousness. Always a subtle impulse initially, yet if to linger beyond a few moments capriciously, unintentionally, purposefully or intensely, incited will be presumption, excited the arrogance then ignited the disrespect, disregard therefore violence privately, publicly, socially, politically, legally, illegally, etc., directly against others’ dissent as exercised per the Singular Human Right to Consent or in this case Dissent explicitly else implicitly, of course inseparably, as manifested by the Peculiar Human Ability to Reason.

To clarify (again) before proceeding; Violence is observably, logically, consistently thus ethically defined as each action and every activity exacted against and executed upon another’s dissent explicit else implicit.

So to expand as logically following; Violence is not a static even dynamic list of horridities as usually although arbitrarily, erroneously assumed. For what is harmful or injurious versus beneficial or advantageous are determined solely by the recipient the individual per his/her unique propensity, prerogative, preference, purpose, etc. Consequently the same action, the same activity may be individually determined then accepted as beneficial or advantageous to one person while simultaneously determined then rejected as harmful or injurious to another person.

To deduce further as obviously compelling; Silence or uncontentious participation (i.e. in society) is not Consent unexpressed as usually although arbitrarily, erroneously assumed per mindlessly hailed qui tacet consentire videtur (see Proposition, Problem & Poem Nos. 222-224). Such egregious assumption often elaborately purposed by writers so to justify without evidence nor logic a preferred political or economic ism hence governmental system, perhaps as well particular set of laws, regulations, taxes, subsidies, prohibitions, wars and so on. Onward the illogical digression and immoral declination, for soon the assumed implicit consent presumptuously devolves to assumed societal obligation, ordinal citizenship, patriotic allegiance, nationalistic duty.

To say and behave otherwise would be nothing but another’s unmindful presumption and willful arrogance, either well driven by innate covetousness.

PROPOSITION, PROBLEM & POEM No. 232


To roughly paraphrase the theologian and thinker Francis Schaeffer from his 1971 book True Spirituality, the climatic end to Moses’ list of commandments is the 10th; thou shalt not covet (Ex 20:17).  He goes on to expand and expound, preceding all sins or wrongdoings against others with covetousness, thus the single transgression actually two; the thought then the act. There is of course the two-millennium old parallel where Christ himself levied the same weighty condemnation on the murderous or hateful thought whether the murderous or hateful act was committed or not (Mt 5:21-22, see also Proem & Poem No. 103).

Again (see Proem & Poem No. 148), if covetousness lingers, imagines then entertains, presumption awakes, rises then proceeds to argue, qualify and categorize a person’s preferences as permissible even rightful over others’ preferences. Sooner or later arrogance joins the affair, encouraging violence to act personally, socially or politically against the dissenting individual. So to precisely, concisely understand the core of the rot if you will…

The climax of the Ten Commandments is the Tenth Commandment – “Thou shat not covet” – Actually we break this last commandment, not to covet, before we break any of the others. Any time that we break one of the other commandments of God, it means that we have already broken this commandment, in coveting.

The above quote is perhaps the most profound, far-reaching Biblical commentary of the 20th century, well articulated and postulated by theologian Francis Schaeffer (1912-1984) in his 1971 book True Spirituality, identifying the last of the Ten Commandments as already broken before breaking any of the previous nine. To summarize, all sins flow from the one sin; covetousness. Yet the profoundness, the described depth and implied breadth, therefore the logic and consistency by that insight and truth are best understood by rightly expanding the summary as well the Schaefferian text. That is to say, the disrespect and disregard of others' reasoning manifested by their dissent, thus unilateral actions against the same spring always from covetousness first, soon followed by presumption then arrogance and if acted upon personally, socially or politically; violence.

So must be stated again the Schaefferian Law of Anterior Covetousness; if an action disregarding dissent (not consensual), then anterior the covetousness as the initial speculation, presumption the consequential disposition, arrogance, disrespect thus disregard the eventual manifestation.

It would be appropriate even prudent to declare yet again clearly, concisely the two aforesaid laws before proceeding, and prior to proposing the third law conversely however intrinsically related.

Law of Consensual Unity; if consensual among all then ethically determined unity, else rightful dissension among one or more then unavoidable disunity (see Proposition, Problem & Poem Nos. 225, 226).

Law of Ethical Continuity; if an action disregarding dissent (not consensual) then an ethical dilemma, else not an action disregarding dissent, not an ethical dilemma rather ethical continuity (see Proposition, Problem & Poem Nos. 227, 228).

To proceed appropriately, logically, to state clearly, concisely the following the third law…

Law of Anterior Covetousness; if an action disregarding dissent (not consensual), then anterior the covetousness as the initial speculation, presumption the consequential disposition, arrogance, disrespect thus disregard the eventual manifestation.

So it follows, the objective of each and every action disregarding dissent is to inculcate, manipulate, regulate, confiscate and/or perhaps terminate others’ person, propensity, prerogative, preference, purpose as well profession, purse, possession and property (see Proem & Poem No. 176). The action however holds more potency than mere Disregard even simple Disrespect, for Arrogance certainly aroused and of course emboldened, unavoidably preceded and encouraged by Presumption, yet the weed ill rooted, the seed badly planted, the rot at core if you will, have always been, of course always is, therefore shall always be Covetousness!
