More on Human ABILITY to REASON, Human RIGHT to CONSENT - Proem & Poem No. 126

PROEM & POEM No. 126 - Matthew Twenty-Five / Part 3

      Whether aware of it or not, the devout are unable to grasp or unwilling to grapple with the disparity between early intentions and later interpretations (see Nos. 124, particularly 125), that is to say, between the initial orthodox and the eventual paradox if you will. So much so, while categorized as harmonious for convenient simplicity, clergy and laity carry on undisturbed by the otherwise unsettling challenge by the dualism; Christian and Follower of the Prince of Peace (Is 9:6, Mt 5:9) versus Citizen and Patriot of Empire and War. Consequently the internal struggle poetically well expressed by Apostle Paul; for the good that I would I do not: but the evil which I would not, that I do (Ro 7:19). With that said and quoted, the human psychology rarely carry the burden of continuous action against what is held personally pious or moral, of course giving opportunity for rationalization formulated by the person or established by others prior. Else, without the presence of the internal struggle whether calmed by a justification or not, there remain the indifference of mind, callousness of heart perhaps depravity of soul like unsightly, nauseating wounds yet cleaned and bandaged. In brief, self-preservation often rids itself of guilt by some psychological measure inwardly mustered or outwardly provided.

      Finally to clarify, the previous two proems and poems are not anti-Christianity rather attempting to rightly breathe a bit of consistency back into scriptures conveniently ignored, excused or reinterpreted. For those who hail Soli Deo Gloria, Solo Christo, Sola Gratia, Sola Fida therefore Sola Scriptura, the implication per the Latin words for “alone” should prompt an urgency and insistency for such consistency, else the presence and acceptance of inconsistency undermines or nullifies any religious resolve or authority. Speaking of consistency theologically of course, but what of theological consistency without applicable consistency, and to go further, without ethical consistency?

Insomuch laboriously, intellectually in kind passionately

The mortal coils then strains per the human constraints

Incessant purging pour, indefatigable surging score as feints

For the imminent fire that descends (such resplendence)
