Most likely to be published later this winter of 2020/2021, my 11th book entitled appropriately; More Proems & Poems on the Peculiar Human ABILITY to REASON, Singular Human RIGHT to CONSENT & Other Neglected Matters. The following will probably be included upon further editing, and front cover a slightly modified yet appropriate version of the previous....
PROEM & POEM No. 198 - My Life Matters! / 2nd Reprise
My life matters! My life matters, perhaps few other lives matter per my limited capacity to actually consider so with purposeful thought often coupled with compassionate e sentiment then resultant action. That is to say, if to consider practically within the larger context of reality, the total human population past, present and future, then only a few the lives that can truly matter per thought towards action by one person. With that said, none of these considerations matter if one does not regard first their own life, learning to sustain, earning to maintain and more, thus obtain sufficiently, efficiently the pragmatic means to such altruistic ends.
When you are asked to love everybody indiscriminately, that is to love people without any standard, to love them regardless of whether they have any value or virtue, you are asked to love nobody.
Ayn Rand (1905-1982)
Whether one embraces Ms. Rand’s entire assessment or not (including this poet), certainly at minimum the intended practicality of her statement holds quite true.
Sentimentally even emotionally, one may express love for the hypothetical “everyone” in song, poem, sermon or lecture. Wishfully even hopefully, one may plan and prepare to love the actual “everyone” possibly encountered along life’s path. However, observably even logically one can only provide loving gifts, perform loving deeds for not most, not many nor some but a few of the “everyone” hypothetical and/or actual.
In parallel, all lives matter certainly, among the oppressed those particular lives matter absolutely. Just the same, lives all, most, many even some will not actually matter if life matters not responsibly well-enough to subsist oneself and beyond, so to assist a few others. Those piously sacrificial must too prioritize however minimally, else unable to carry on empathetically and benevolently. Consequentially, the observable, unavoidable mantra “My life matters!” is not solely ethical therefore singularly rightful, but the necessary prerequisite to further endeavors.

Lip thus bitten the lower then stiffen the upper, oh so rightfully
Whilst the hairs arise on nape of pride’s neck quite concertedly
As tarred heels roughen, the readied toughen as spikes and nails
Beneath starched collars well hot, chests fraught as bowed sails
