PROEM & POEM No. 72 - Patriotism: Principle, Propaganda or Psychosis / 1st Reprise
First and foremost, Patriotism or nationalism is without principle, that is to say precisely, without logic thus ethic. Other than unquestioned allegiance to country, flag, government and war(s), there involve no other consistency defining it; inapplicable across borders for vilipended are those on opposite side of borders. Dismissing even demonizing another country’s patriotism becomes quite easy when one’s own patriotism pairs with one’s own (true) religion thus antireligious. Among Christians in United States (as one example among countries), propaganda over political podiums and clerical pulpits have so melded allegiance and faith, a psychosis formed into theological perversions of appalling levels, as exemplified in the following quote (easily found online). “Only two defining forces have ever offered to die for you. Jesus Christ and the American Soldier. One died for your soul. The other died for your freedom.”
While not as arrogantly bombastic, other countries rally similarly per misguided notions like God and king, power to the people, freedom by blood, liberty, independence, social justice, or more subtly, considering their own patriotism or nationalism as superiorly fair, equal, moral, humane, etc. Yet by these seemingly lofty notions, underlined by excessive political power therefore government force, the Singular Human Right to Consent or Not Consent is unavoidably, imperiously disregarded, hence inseparably the Peculiar Human Ability to Reason barbarously disrespected.

The holy boldly donned; luminous robes of fond patriotism
Actuality via government prisms, jack-booting every schism
Doublespeak outspoken, potent the means, stolen the slogans
Seers’ omens, peers’ poems, duly noting the effete brogans
Come let us Reason. Peace is always a Choice.
