HUMAN ABILITY to REASON, HUMAN RIGHT to CONSENT - Proem & Poem No. 96

Most likely to be published later this spring of 2018, my 10th book currently entitled; 100 Proems & Poems on the HUMAN ABILITY to REASON, HUMAN RIGHT to CONSENT & Other Neglected Matters. The following will probably be included upon further editing, and front cover below merely a working version....

PROEM & POEM No. 96 - Jefferson, Epicurean or Lockean / Part 1 ~

Some arguably credit Thomas Jefferson’s use of Pursuit of Happiness (see Nos. 25-29) as referential to the classically interpreted writings of Epicurus, that is, happiness by moderation or simplicity, oppose to the more excessively hedonistic view of the same (thus the word “epicurean”). This counters the alternative perhaps common position where he expanded on John Locke’s precise use of Possessions or the paraphrased Property, while condensing the prior rights Life, Health and Liberty to the popularly recited rights Life and Liberty.

Both explanations are gravely problematic to understanding a basic human right. First, if meant as a classically Epicurean reference for modest living, then Pursuit of Happiness is an admonition or instruction, rather than something unalienable. Second, if meant as an expanded Lockean reference, then Pursuit of Happiness becomes a broad, less defined objective, or better said, an observably universal human desire or preference, rather than something particularly, precisely unalienable.

HUMAN ABILITY to REASON, HUMAN RIGHT to CONSENT - Proem & Poem No. 95

PROEM & POEM No. 95 - Sum of All Isms / Reprise

All Isms save one can be summed up as Collectivism imposed by Centralism, that is to say, the presumptuous use of political force by the consenting one, some, few, many or most upon the dissenting others. By using weapons of mass destruction, the Economic Bomb (central banking, see Nos. 81-82, 91-92) and the Academic Bomb (central/public education, Nos. 93-94), far reaching policies are exacted upon the whole economy and entire citizenry, resulting to weak otherwise sound currency while weak otherwise sound mind (Nos. 5, 71-73).

Democracy per the consenting many or most, no more justifies their preferred Ism (use of force) than do Monarchy, Aristocracy, Plutocracy, Oligarchy, Meritocracy, Theocracy (and more) per the consenting one, some or few. Similarly, while shrewdly appearing benevolent and preventive, Socialism and Paternalism no more justify dependency upon Cronyism, Fascism or Communism for forceful implementation, than the obviously destructive Militarism and evidently intrusive Police-Statism dependent also on the same.

To imperatively belabor the point, all Isms inherently, unavoidably, unethically even monstrously disrespect and disregard the Peculiar Human Ability to Reason, inseparably the Singular Human Right to Consent or Not Consent, although save one; Individualism.

Nonetheless, the Natural Grace they effaced by distrust
Assayed as rust, tossed like dross, hot the fuss till gone
The thrill’s final dawn, upon twilight forever and anon

Individualism nailed to cross, thrown to funeral pyre
Per the appeasing luminal for whores o’er abetted fires

“How so?”, so go the retorts to thwart such assertions
Purporting the distinction, fitly, purposing the perception
Delusion per illusion by combining theology and polity
Conjuring Isms, contriving schisms to frivolous hostility

As shamed by political narratives upon popular stories
Masses engendered, fast surrendered like Antediluvians
Repulsively impulsive `yond instinctive species nonhuman

Ah the revising of backdrops, the franchising to eavesdrop

O Publius, thy sole pearl, `twas cast among fellow swine
Then, since and hereafter, hence truth and logic benign
Democracy’s myths animate, polity’s lies stimulate
As citizenry abdicate, adulate and dutifully masturbate
