12th Book on Ability to Reason, Right to Consent; Proposition, Problem & Poem No. 260

Most likely to be published later this summer of 2022, my 12th book entitled appropriately; Propositions, Problems & Poems on the Peculiar Human ABILITY to REASON, Singular Human RIGHT to CONSENT & Other Neglected Matters. The following will probably be included upon further editing, and front cover a slightly modified yet appropriate version of the 10th and 11th books...

PROPOSITION, PROBLEM & POEM No. 260

~ The Mind: Seat of Law or Subject of Law / 1st Reprise ~

Man is subject to the passing of time. He comes into existence, grows, becomes old, and passes away. His time is scarce. He must economize it as he does other scarce factors… The economization of time has a peculiar character because of the uniqueness and irreversibility of the temporal order. The importance of these facts manifests itself in every part of the theory of action.

Ludwig von Mises (1881-1973)

Momentarily, set aside the potential yet irrelevant debate whether the specie human would reason to self-entertain within the context of inexhaustible plenty, fantasy’s land and myth per medieval Cockaigne if you will. Certainly reality, that is to say, the exhaustible scarcity of natural resources, labor skilled and unskilled hence exhaustible scarcity of produced goods and provided services as well time itself, necessitates the engagement of reasoning; the Peculiar Human Ability to Reason.

Immediately upon humanity acquiring the ability to reason via creation or evolution (either position provides no less, no more clarity than what can be easily observed, see Proem & Poem No. 199), science emerged. First informally although practically per individual industry and ingenuity, then later formally however crudely onto meticulously, precisely albeit expansively, continuously determining observation, logic, consistency then fact, truth and/or ethic per individual invention and innovation. For science, never the mere satiation of curiosity as promulgated by some of letter and leisure, rather purposed to pursue, perpetuate then progress humanity’s sustenance and maintenance within reality therefore scarcity.

By the aforesaid consideration, it is not difficult to perceive the parallel even intertwined movements of naturally governing laws both internal and external to the mind. Internal laws or functionalities seated within the mind, as well the mind subjected by external laws or actualities, the former as necessary skills or tools to learn and understand the latter. With that said, Mises also noted that man is the only animal that is able—within definite limits—to adjust his environment purposively to suit him better.

Accordingly, the specie human thus reasonable (see Proem & Poem No. 23) was and is not doomed by scarcity of natural amenities, nor condemned by scarcity of natural faculties, instead sustained while still sustaining, maintained while still maintaining then excelled while still excelling far beyond all other species nonhuman thus instinctive (see Proem & Poem No. 33). So it was, so it is and so shall it be per the Peculiar Human Ability to Reason as inseparably manifested by the Singular Human Right to Consent or Dissent on all matters.

Bricks and sticks, known to fix while prone to cleverest of tricks
Per bureaucratic jesters, commonly festered by body politics
Lured then bestirred further by covetous, presumptuous murmurs
Perverted by academic charmers strutting as arrogant nurturers

O the human frailty yet virility per reason’s faculty then utility
From twigs, sticks, rocks and logs, to rigs and bricks’ superiority
Yet the temporality, perpetually, accordingly “this o’er that”
“That o’er this” post hoc, so pompously mocked by the kratocrat

Come let us Reason. Peace is always a Choice.
Study, Ponder, Labor, till last Breath.
