American Christians have failed to be "salt of the earth" (Mt 5:13)...

"The Spirit of the Lord God is upon me; because the Lord hath anointed me to preach good tidings unto the meek; he hath sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to them that are bound."

Isaiah 61:1 (KJV)

Thus Christians in United States largely do not equip themselves, that is, equip their minds, before attempting "to proclaim Liberty", rather assuming as suffice their quite narrow knowledge denominationally doctrinal and/or politically partisan. Only pride and ignorance can emanate from such a posture. For the mind, the peculiarly human ability to reason, is God's greatest gift to Mankind, a grace common to all second only to His Grace Particular. All too often ignored or dismissed in favor of just one book are God given discoveries and insights by philosophers, logicians, praxeologists, economists, historians like Aristotle, Porphyry, Abelard, Leibniz, Boole, Jevons, Mill, Wittgenstein, Shannon, Turgot, Bastiat, Menger, Hazlitt, Mises, Rothbard and many more.

As the great mathematician, philosopher, logician even poet George Boole (1815-1864) humbly observed, "The general laws of Nature are not, for the most part, immediate objects of perception.“, therefore...

"Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth."

Note:

The foresaid may well apply to Christians of other countries, however courtesy dictates to be the harshest among one's own, to "first cast out the beam out of thine own eye; and then shalt thou see clearly to cast out the mote out of thy brother's eye" (Mt 7:3-5)... :-)
